At Jaunt we design, engineer, and manufacture systems to convert classic cars and commercial vehicles to electric. We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our passionate team as we grow Australia’s largest electric vehicle conversion workshop in Scoresby, eastern Melbourne.
Position Description
We are looking for a mechanic to work on the mechanical rebuild and finished assembly of Jaunt's premium, custom-built vehicles. In this fast-paced role, you’ll work across the mechanical build of our electric vehicles — including restoring classic cars, bespoke mechanical upgrades and installing major electrical systems.
If you’re inspired by premium automotive products and thrive when working independently with a hands-on approach, this is your opportunity to help build the future of automotive technology in Australia.
What You’ll Do:
- Work under the direction of the Mechanical & Production Lead, while also managing your own tasks independently.
- Restore and build custom classic vehicles.
- Tear down vehicles to support inspection and restoration processes.
- Assemble vehicles and integrate components across multiple systems, including chassis, suspension, motors, interiors, and exterior panel alignment.
- Fit and install interior components such as custom seats, consoles, dashboard elements, audio systems, and wiring harnesses.
- Build custom brake and cooling lines.
- Install and calibrate major electrical components for electric vehicle conversions.
- Collaborate with the Fabrication and Engineering teams on custom part installations and contribute to standardising build processes.
- Perform inspections, repairs, and alterations on active builds, working with care around completed and painted vehicles.
- Handle additional tasks and responsibilities that reasonably fall within the scope of the role.
Ideally, You Have:
- Mechanical trades qualifications with 3+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing, assembly, or fitting.
